The Sunday Currently | Vol. 8

Reading: I finished Away With the Penguins and have started Untamed by Glennon Doyle. I’m making very little progress on A Promised Land.

Reading on: Kindle
Reading on: Audible

Listening: I’ve started listening to Unlocking Us by Brené Brown. It was brought to my attention when a friend mentioned FFTs to me. We had been chatting and I mentioned how I’m worrying a bit about birth and becoming a First Time Mom and she said it was just an FFT (a F*^cking First Time) and that we’re all nervous about doing things when it’s for the first time. I took the hint from the Universe and started listening to the podcast. In her first episode Brené recommends reading Untamed before her episode with Glennon Doyle so I’ve decided to finish that book before moving onto that episode.

Watching: I’ve been trying to fill the Gilmore Girls and Schitt’s Creek shaped holes in my heart but to no avail! There’s very little that seems to be along the same lines as these heartwarming shows. I’ve tried watching Superstore and gave up after a few episodes, as well as Informer, another one that I really didn’t feel the pull of. Last night I started Firefly Lane which seems interesting as it stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke; if the second episode doesn’t intrigue me I’ll be giving up on it. I’m shocking though – I really need to feel the grasp of a show to come back for more, and so far nothings hitting the spot for me. Image Source

At present I’m sitting on the couch and watching The Sound of Music as I write this post. News of Christopher Plummer’s passing meant I had to re-watch this show. I’m a big fan of musicals and love Julie Andrews’ work. It is a gorgeous movie. Funnily enough, when I was a child, we had a video of this movie without the ending. It ended just as the wedding scene started. It was only when I was in my teens that I found out that this was a movie that was set in a time of Nazi rule! My mind was blown! I clearly hadn’t picked up on the hints throughout the first 2/3 of the film!

Loving:
– Getting started on figuring out the Baby’s room & trying to find nice Irish owned shops/designers who make gender neutral room decor
– Reading more regularly
– Using my new Amzon Echo Dot. I’d been a bit opposed to these things for a while but gave in!
– Our new Fiber Internet! We’ve been waiting months for proper internet and now that it’s here I feel like I’m living in the lap of luxury!
– The promise of snow in Ireland – hopefully it’ll break the monotony of lockdown #3 and I can build a snowman in the garden!

Working On: Staying calm. The past few days have found me feeling a bit overwhelmed – thinking of what is ahead of me, I’m worried that I won’t be able for it all. I’m trying to stay calm by doing things that are grounding for me and allowing myself to feel things fully without feeling guilt.

I’m also working on the second half of “10 Life Lessons from 2020.” I’m hoping to post it during the week!
